Matthew Lorick
Composer, audio engineer and percussionist

 

Originally from Blythewood, SC, Matthew Lorick is a rising composer, audio engineer and percussionist. Currently, he is Director of Music for Nursery Independent School District in Victoria, TX where he also serves as School Librarian and Band Director. His compositions are published by Percussion Music Europe and Musicon Publications.   He has studied with Dr. Tom Nevill, Mr. David Lopez, Mr. Dacey Bell, Mr. Jason Frith, and Mr. Jaye Ingram.

 

Lorick previously held the position of Director of Percussion at Victoria West High School, who were the 2022 Texas Color Guard Circuit Scholastic AA State Champions for Indoor Percussion. He also has been percussion director at Harold Cade Middle School, Patti Welder Middle School, The University of Texas at Brownsville Music Academy, Hartsville HS, McBee HS, Indian Land HS and Richland Northeast HS. He also was a percussion technician for Rio Hondo HS and Mercedes HS. 

 

Mr. Lorick's compositions are performed regularly throughout the world, most notably his marimba solo, "Odessa" which was written for Dr. Miroslav Dimov. He is active as a clinician and an adjudicator throughout south Texas.
